ps3 or xbox 360

PS3 is far superior to the 360 hardware-wise, plus you don't have to pay money to play online. As someone already mentioned, once developers really learn to utilise the cell chip the PS3 will win hands down.

Also, PS3 looks like the monolith from 2001 a Space Odessy, Xbox 360 looks like a giant iPod/Panty Liner

I read on slashdot.org that the PS3's cell processor had to be downgraded to allow it on the market... the US has tight laws in regard to the export of technology which can be used to break cryptography...

It's quite odd though, considering this technology is technically getting imported into the States... not exported...

But yeah I'd rather have a PS3 any day of the week...

PS3.. probably.. I've yet to really play on either though.

$50 Blu-Ray won't win the format war though. Sony have a history in shooting themselves in the foot with their formats (MD, UMD etc) and I can't see this being any different.

Nope... WRONG. It's already winning... Blockbuster in the states has started stocking blu-ray only in their stores, and they're considered to be one of the most influential players in that market.

Edit: I better back that up...

Winning in the present tense and win in the future tense are two different things... so really you are *ahem* WRONG... no justification for assuming they have won it yet. His bet is valid... if you don't agree then take him up, don't shoot him down

I agree. Don't forget betamax was a better option overall too, but people didn't buy it (and the power PC etc etc).

Tbh I think the xbox 360 will win, Sony has virtually not exclusive games for the ps3 this time around, and there hardware is more expensive. Mummies and daddies who hear there kids nagging about new consoles are going to go to harvey norman, hear the sales person say they are pretty much equal but one is $400 more the other and.... buy the cheapest one. Also from what I understand the mutlicell thing the PS3 is/will be a joke for a few years in terms of power.

If you want to be cool, buy a PC.

Read the links and STFU. It's pretty much already won by bluray. Blockbuster IS the leading influence in the U.S in terms of which format, and they've chosen Bluray. What's so hard to understand about that? AND (lots of) people are already cancelling orders for HD-DVD players and buying Bluray players instead... So yea, tell me what's wrong with my logic there again?

All I'm saying is that you sound like a bit of a cock shooting him down telling him he's wrong in full caps

Now I'm saying you sound like more of a cock for telling me to shut the fuck up

I have links to back that up too... here's one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etiquette

I find it somewhat ironic that you're calling me a "cock" for saying someone was wrong, or to STFU... VERY ironic in fact.

But... Caring.

I dont have an xBox360 OR a PS3, OR a bluray player OR an HD-DVD player, so... uhh.... whatevers, yeah? I'll buy one when I can afford an HD TV... and at the rate I'm spending money on my car and snowboard gear, that wont be till some time NEXT millenium, so by then hopefully we'll know who won the format war. Even though we actually know already (*cough* bluray *cough*).

it is truely the next generation in gaming, it may lack alot of what xbox 360 and ps3 are pushing graphics wise but the interactiveness of the Wii is so much fun

Sit down.

I'm not WRONG, look at this quote that comes DIRECTLY from one of the articles you linked up:

"it's still a little too soon to declare Blu-ray the outright winner"

And anyway, Blockbuster, hardly that relevant given that the movie rental market is inevitably going down the slopes, in fact the way technology is going long-term you'd probably be better off supporting HD-TV purely because Microsoft are behind them.. but that said, nobody knows what's gonna happen, and I don't really even care cos I'm not in the market for either, so..

Whatever though..
