Guest
check the skies tonight for full lunar eclipse visible in Nz. this promises to be the best eclipse since 2000. the moon will enter the earths shadow around 8pm and be fully eclipsed by tenthirty. it maybe tinted a coppery cololur due to some light being refracted thru the earths atmosphere. the eclipse will last thru midnight so hopefully the skies will clear and give us all a peek at the show. goto www.rasnz.co.nz fmi

robyn
Definitely looking forward to this. PS - Does a lunar eclipse have the magical ability to cure chicken pox?? I've just been cursed with them, right on the week of Brian G etc... Super lame.

robyn
It's definitely not fun, I even have one on my right tonsil Fortunately however I had a mint view of the moon last night from my deathbed (AKA couch) so I didn't miss the eclipse.
djvj3000
Saw the whole thing from my deck. Wasnt too exciting tbh, looked alright through a telescope tho but we didnt have a good spot to position it so only saw it a few times thru it. Apparently it only happens every 40 years or so? Merge
total eclipse of the heart.... Next Total SOLAR Eclipse (not a shitty lunar eclipse) in New Zealand: New Zealanders will have to wait until 22 July 2028 for a total eclipse of the Sun. Even then it will be very low in the sky. The path of totality passes over the South Indian Ocean, but this time enters north Australia and passes diagonally across the continent with Sydney on the centre line. Having crossed the Tasman Sea, the path crosses the Southern part of the South Island with Dunedin in the centre of the path. The eclipse will occur there at about 4.15 pm and the Sun will only be about 8.5° above the horizon.

Guest
total eclipse of the heart.... Next Total SOLAR Eclipse (not a shitty lunar eclipse) in New Zealand: save it with your solar eclipse mate... i was born under a full moon so im pretty hyped when this shit happens. especialy to see it that colour from the refracted light thru the volcanic dust and greek fire smoke in the atmospehere was trippy. the moon affects all our weather and tides etc... so east coast surf has been great the last couple of days, and theres even been some solid snowfalls on the mountains. got some deeece photos too, although boberg has deleted most of them.d'oh. still got a couple to post up asap. all you Cancerians out there woulda had special powers...turns out mine was an ability to conjure up "mermaids" on taka beach. chur
Kelzzzz
The lunar eclipse prolonged the pool competition in the most painful way... However, it was well cool all the same.
