mike
not sure bout that - but I hope you don't want to do any audio based work using the onboard sound - Fine for gaming etc, but if your doing production etc you'll have to cash out for a soundcard
Tim
i need soundcard at th mo aswell, how much they generally put you back?
Nato
The Bios error message won't cause you any issues. You need to know however that this computer is very slow by todays standards. Pentium 4 2.8Ghz isn't even in production anymore, 512Mb of Ram could potentially be maxed out by opening a few flash and java heavy webpages, and as mentioned the onboard sound is rubbish. If you are just looking for something to browse the web it will be "ok" but you won't be happy with this for long. Any work involving large files, audio/image editing will be painfully slow due to the 512mb of ram.
phonetics
yeah man, you'll be wanting at least 1GB of RAM in any system you get.

Merge
yea dude theres nothing more frustrating than a slow pc. make SURE u get decent amount of ram and a decent processor. large harddrives aint too expensive now too.
phonetics
i'd recommend going round different stores with the spec you're after in mind and wait to grab an end of line model/display model cause you can usually get them on the cheap (i.e. ask for some discount cause its the last one/display model). it's how i buy all my electronics, got some sweet deals. particularly if the sale guy wants the sale and you're keen for the last one on the shelf
Merge
yea...and always chuck in the odd 'im tossing up between this one and one at another store... '

Note that your need for a 3Ghz processor isn't quite right. Speed in Ghz is only relevant when comparring the same processor models. A core 2 duo running at 2.0Ghz will rape a Pentium 4 at 3Ghz. Anyway I'll find you some shit.

Nato
Antec Mid Tower Case w/ 430w Power Supply $179 ASUS P5KPL-CM motherboard $100.30 Intel E2180 dual core CPU $123.75 Seagate Barracuda 250Gb harddrive $85.50 G.SKill 1Gb ddr2-800 RAM $40.72 BenQ 19" Widescreen LCD $257.63 about $7-$800 can get you something like this which you will be far better off with in the long run. Even if you don't have the cash it would be worth it just to wait until you can spend more than $3-$400 cause that will just be money down the drain. If it all seems like too much effort then trademe can be a good place to look but you should wait until you can afford something a little better than what you posted before.
