  • 2 weeks later...

doing the low carb thing at the moment, not too bad except when both meals on offer in the cafeteria have white, starchy carbs and so I end up eating salad 3 days in a row

anyway, if you wanting to trim that tyre a little cos all that beer you've been drinking has gone straight to your thighs I recommend this recipe book

Australian Women's Weekly : 501 Low-carb recipes

It basically has 3 sections, lose weight fast, lose weight slower and maintain weight. The recipes are SOOO easy, most of them are suitable for the work day when you really cannot be arsed with making out like a sous chef in the kitchen. Also the losing weight slower section has got some recipes listed under 'breakfast' that also double as really good desserts. So at least you can still entertain your sweet tooth which means it's not all pain and suffering while you are taking some of the junk out of your trunk.

  • 1 month later...

Viva annual take out awards:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/food/news/article.cfm?c_id=206&objectid=10608568&pnum=0

Most of these places I haven't managed to savour yet but I do agree with the Ripe Deli on Richmond call. I have enjoyed my meal for all the times that I have been there.

I have heard mixed reviews about Murder Burger and The Fishmonger though...

In other news, I am going to attempt to secure reservations at the following establishments:

The Fat Duck, London

El Bulli, Spain

The French Laundry, California

The most difficult will be El Bulli and I will be hoping that my name is one of the lucky ones that gets drawn out of the hat. They only open 6 months in the year and have 8000 seats made available during their season. They receive approximately 2 million applications for seats each year as well. So fingers crossed!

Also if anyone has any recommendations for an AMAZING place to eat in Hong Kong then I'd love to hear it.
