Pakage
if only i was that cool IRL... Ive bumped the voltage up a bit and am (hopefully) stable at 4.0GHz @ 1.29v and its holding around 82 degrees. Dont think i can squeeze much more out of this chip on air without it running too hot. 4.0GHz is plenty anyway!
zzzp
what cpu.. 82 degrees, sheeet.
Pakage
Intel i7 930. its only rated at 2.8GHz, but its been stable at 4.0 for about 10 hours now.
Nato
You are looking at minimum return vs maximum risk at 4GHz. You won't actually notice the difference in performance over say 3.6GHz unless you are benchmarking. For regular use I'd use about 3.6 which will require much less voltage and keep the temps down. I mean, are you really gonna notice 1 or 2 seconds cut off rendering a track?
Dr Awesome
imo go for 4.33GHz, get a waterblock and point some fans at your memory and north bridge.
Pakage
hmm, yeah i guess. I could probably run it at 3.8GHz @ 1.25v stably so i might drop it down to that.
Pakage
ended up dropping it down to 3.8 @ 1.264 and its running sweet at around 76degrees. thats plenty. im still stoked with that. bit of an upgrade from my 2.13GHz core to duo thats for sure. Pakage
Ive been working on a Work In Progress / Job Management intranet system at work on and off over the last month or so. We just presented the beta version for feedback to the executives. They liked it soo much they were talking about maybe rolling it at all of our associated offices nationwide. pretty stoked on that really!
