Any of you crank that shit?

I resisted it for a long time but last week I finally bit the bullet and signed up.. it's by all accounts a great way to link up with your favourite producers, actors, porn stars or whatever. Seriously though it's a good networking tool, and definitely bridges the gap making a small world even smaller, online community steez.. I've heard some pretty cool first-hand stories about personal/business relationships forming through it, and so far I've managed to contact a few peeps I've lost touch with etc..

And as much as John B makes me cringe he also makes me laugh too - his new track "I'm stalking you on Myspace" is crack-up steez.. "you can be my cyber friend" etc.. fukn lolz..

Anyways.. /dj_grind if you're curious..

personally im not into it eh..

whats the point?

so you can reign supreme over all the other geeks spending hours on end at their computer writing emo blogs about how terrible their life is, and you can be all like "look at me, i have 2000 friends on myspace but none in real life?"

I just got too much stuff to do in the real world, to worry about too much stuffs going on in cyberscape of myspace.

id rather be the loser of the kings, than the king of the losers..

ok.. maybe im being a little harsh..

Come on Romantech, prove me wrong man.. id like to know what all the myspace hype is about.

I registered /djkritical on myspace purely so nobody else would take it incase in 10 years I decide to use it..

someone else already had kritical =(

I'd probably use it if it were more customisable... I know you can change the layout to some extent.. but you can't put your own code on there..

I'd rather make my own homepage.. one day I'll get around to it

so I suppose you don't use MSN right? what about forums?

yeah - there's an emo presence there - you can easily avoid that though, don't look at their pages, don't read their blogs, don't add them to your 'friends'. and of course there's bound to be losers and creeps on there, just as there is 'in real life'.. there's also tonnes of producer / DJ talent both signed and unsigned, building networks, creating contacts, making use of what is potentially a great and powerful tool.

as the internet converges more and more onto daily life, and we start using it not just for information but to communicate, broadcast ourselves, advertise, and sell/buy stuff, the boundaries between 'real life' and the internet fall down.. the internet is part of my 'real life' you know.. and although i don't value my existence on my 'online' presence i don't downplay it either..

kritical - you can customise layouts etc, however not with java.. yet.

yeah fuck that emo shit on myspace aye.. its bloody weird if you ask me. but craig its not all emo bitches on there anyway.. it is avoidable

i found myspace fantastic when in golden bay.. just keeping up with what me auckers friends are up to and just carried on with it when i moved back up.. the key is just to keep ya friends list as people you know or are willing to get to know and not just add anyone.. then its just an extra way to keep in touch or keep up to date with ya mates.. kinda like this forum.

and you can have your fave band/dj as your friend.. how cool!

but...it IS addictive. so be warned

Mmm I signed up but then when I worked out that actually had to put effort into it I flagged it. I've never added any 'friends' and I've never bothered to try make a page. I just can't find it in me to care. Not enough time, not far enough away from anyone for it to be worthwhile. Whilst it would ego-boosting to know I was 'friends' with Evol Intent (or whoever) I'd be fucked off if I was being constantly harrassed by an adoring teenage groupie chick (I just love your music man! It's just, like, sooo cooool). They know they kick it, they don't need me to remind them.

Just added you Grind, then I saw a bunch of people I knew on your profile, and some people that looked cool and (>)20 minutes later I'm slapping myself in the face cause I need to work on my funking project! Myspace is like that eh.

Totally agree with Aphra, myspace is wicked when you only have people you like on your list. It started off for me solely as a place to host my tracks for free - now its more than that though. My other advice is not to do the whole bulletin thing cause thats just sad and you get addicted REAL fucking fast. I post a bulletin max once a month

anyway I'm /perceptualchaos if anyone wants to hit me up. Bonus points if you leave a picture comment that makes me laugh/think/cry

go to the about me section in the profile editor and put IMAGE

dont forget double quotes " " around the IMAGE ADDRESS URL.

If you are looking for a free place to host your pictures of shit I reccommend flickr. Or the easy way is to just upload it to myspace, then go view your pics on your main profile, find the image, right-click, copy image location, then you can use that as your IMAGE ADDRESS.

Grind.. Yes i use MSN, and yes i am on this forum a lot.. but i do work 40 hours a week in front of a computer. Even still.. i find that i can quite suffiecently use my 40 hours a week at work either working (hardly.. seriously.. i spend about 1h:30m on the phone out of every 8 hour day at my ISP helpdesk job) or on msn, or on this forum, or doing developer type stuff for this site, and others me and Mr. Kritical are working on.. past that i could always be practising some other web design or programming.. i just dont really have that much time to waste when i sit infront of a computer eh..

Aphra.. I catch up with people enough on MSN, Email, Txt or in person to seriously not bother with myspace.... as i said above.. simply not enough time on my hands eh.

I think that it would be a good idea maybe for someone like Skono, who has gone overseas and instead of emailing everyone or posting in his own thread he could just give everyone the same URL, and it would b much easier..

I have to admit.. i did sign up for it ages ago.. i think i got pakage but not sure.. never looked at it again after i signed up. I think that the only time i would actually bother with it would be if going overseas indefinately... but yeah.. apart from that im waaay to busy using my time more productively
