And it's close to the mountains if you're into that. just beware the redneck/skins... also dirty pirate hookers after dark. Dunedin is pretty good for a more varied electronic music and dance party scene... some epic outdoor gigs but it gets freezing(actually freezing). Is the biggest student city in NZ so some massive and rowdy nights out/house parties go on. Aucklands great for proximity to awesome beaches, variety of road trip options, stuff to do other than raving(yes KWRK, there is life outside your room/record store/club)and probably the best crew in the country.
