Ducky
so, i haven't had a car for awhile, and i'm about to finish school and say goodbye to 70 hour working weeks. summer is looming, and i have about a 2-2.5 Grand budget. I'm after a wagon/hatch I can fit all my stuff to go surfing in, that cruises at 100km easily, handles well, is economical, reliable, and cheap for parts/labour if something fucks out. oh, also I'm not planning on keeping this car for the next 5 years or whatever. it's a lily pad till i earn some decent money building teh internets and put another Quattro in our driveway. (hopefully) So far I've been hearing a lot of Corolla calls. I also have seen a couple of Escudo/Vitara potentials on trade me. (used to drive on of these, fun as fuck till the engine seized). what's your guys's best pick?

Dr Awesome
Buy a Corolla. Spray paint something unique on the roof so nobody can steal it.
Hakomi
Toyota all the way imo. I worked for conti cars in the Jeep/Dodge service section and they also got lumped with Suzuki. Apparently they had the highest break down rate of any manufacturer the company had ever seen, absolute shit piles. Corolla wagon ftw, easy to fix plus theres probably a fuckton of parts available from wreckers etc.
zzzp
Corolla's are a good choice so long as they've been looked after.
