penco
anyone know of any decent cheap companies/people that fix laptops. a certain jabroni that shall remain unnamed spilled a glass of tonic water over the keyboard. i turned it off straight away and left it drying wrapped in towels in a sun room for a week or so. now when ever i turn it on it gets to this screen: then i get a BSOD. preferably in central auckland. Nato
What are the specs of the laptop? I think I may have some spare ddr2 SODIMM and a 2.5" internal sata drive we can test if you want to rule those out as the culprits. If it is one of those then at least you have a cheap fix rather than paying for somebody to diagnose it, if it isn't then you give them a good place to start. Known One
IMO open it up and give it a proper clean and dry imo. Use a damp cloth, get rid of any residue left on any of the boards or ribbon connectors and leave it to dry while dismantled. A guy here at work had a smartphone come back to life after a month in the hot water cupboard. He was trying to turn it on every now and then so it really did take a long time to dry out internally. I would carefully open it up (completely) and wipe down the mainboard with a damp cloth, and make sure all of the liquid is gone. Tonic water has sugar in it so simply drying in a hot water cupboard might not be enough.
Pakage
id also recommend a dehumidifer over a hot water cupboard (if you have one). Do what these guys suggest then put it in a small space with it like a cupboard/closet/wardrobe with the dehumidifer. It should speed up the drying process.
