perceptualChaos
Am I the only one that didn't know that most zippers have a locking mechanism? If the pull tab on the zipper is pushed down (i.e. made flat like the picture below), then it is locked and won't come down. If it's not in that position, then it's not locked and it may come open by itself. Try it.

beatrixquiddo
Wow, but I think that might be only for YKK.
perceptualChaos
Wow, but I think that might be only for YKK. Well my Levis and Dickies both have the same mechanism and I don't think they are using YKK. I only found out because the zip kept coming undone on my Levi's... I thought the zipper was broken until my girlfriend pointed out the locking mechanism and blew my mind. * Edit: Dickies are actually YKK, it's just printed on the other side of the zipper (front of the zipper has a Dickie's logo). So maybe you're right Martin. Edited January 12, 2012 by Guest

perceptualChaos
Wow, but I think that might be only for YKK. Edited my original post... On closer inspection I think you are most likely correct (brand logo was on the front, but sure enough YKK was on the back). Still though, most quality pants seem to use a YKK zipper. Known One
Did you know about this locking mechanism? Yes... and I figured it out myself one day while looking at my zipper... mind was blown at the time.
zeb
Old news bro,but saying that, even my tightest pants are loose enough to slide on without using the zip. My suits are a different story though, gotta respect the bond outfits.
