Custom DJ Booth/Desk/Table

Hello,

Has anyone had any experience building a customized booth/thing for housing one’s mixing setup?

I’m looking at building one, but details or premade plans which I could employ or at least use as a base point are a bit sketchy.

I’m looking at building a multi-tiered unit – my requirements are:

1) Recessed Turntables/Mixer (cables hidden)

2) Integrated storage at the bottom – I figure around 3 crates worth, and maybe a draw.

3) Removable Shelf/Stand to accommodate CDJs/Laptop in the future.

4) Integrated monitor stands.

5) Easy to setup or remove equipment (as I use my TTs + Mixer in clubs at least once a month).

I realize that’s pretty-much above and beyond anything I’m likely to find, so I’ve made some rough sketches of what I’m after.

Before I go through and draw up some detailed plans I’d like to steal other people’s ideas though, as there’s no point in covering the same ground twice.

I’ll keep this thread updated with pictars and plans anyway.

My rough dimensions are at an absolute maximum of 1500 wide, and it can be upto about 800 deep. I'd really like my monitors to be somewhat isolated and at ear hight, along with a mixer/turntables that I don't have to stoop over to reach.

Also not sure if I'm going to build it out of solid wood or not.

I've had similar plans for a while, but going to wait until I am in a somewhat permanent abode... and build it to suit the room.

A couple of ideas which I'll be using for mine will be to have the Mixer Recess Modular, in that the shape and size of the mixer might change in the future, so build the desk with that in mind. I have some practical ideas for this, but I'd need a pen and pad to show you how I would go about it.

Also I want to build a lid for the desk and hinge it so that when it lifts up, a screen(s) is mounted on the underside of the lid.

Also, short people are going to need a crate to stand on to use it

yeah, this is what I've got so far.

Just working out how much space per storage "crate" I want (atm 433mm cubed), and if I want to make it high enough to accommodate two rows of 3 bays.

Also designing how I want my upper tiers to look.

The upright on the RHS of the design is a WIP. Needs to house a removable shelf, and support one of those floating KRK's in the background.
